The Saturday before Easter looked a little different at Tippy this year — and we loved it. Our HC Baseball family spent the afternoon together enjoying baseball practice, fellowship, lunch, activities for the siblings, and an Easter egg hunt right at the field.
Baseball seasons can move fast. There are practices to get through, games to prepare for, places to travel, and always something that needs to be done. Days like this give everyone a chance to slow down a little, enjoy one another, and remember that some of the best parts of being part of a team happen when nobody is keeping score.
Baseball and Fellowship
The Angels still got their baseball work in. Practice was part of the day, because of course it was — this is HC Baseball. But the afternoon was also about spending time together as a baseball family. Players, siblings, and families were able to share a meal, visit, laugh, and enjoy the field in a completely different way.
Those ordinary moments matter. The friendships built around a baseball team do not stop with the players standing between the lines. Brothers, sisters, parents, coaches, and families all become part of the rhythm of a season, and it is always special when everyone gets to simply enjoy being together.
A Little Fun for the Siblings, Too
While the Angels practiced, the younger siblings had plenty to keep them busy. We had crafts and activities for them to enjoy, and then came the part they had really been waiting for: the Easter egg hunt.
And this was not just any egg hunt. The HC Angels themselves took over the hiding duties, scattering eggs all around Tippy and finding plenty of creative baseball-field hiding spots. Gloves, fences, benches, equipment, and just about anything else became fair game.
Watching the younger kids race around the same field where their brothers spend so many hours practicing and playing made the afternoon especially fun. For once, Tippy belonged to the little ones too.
More Than the Games
We say often that HC Baseball is about more than baseball, and afternoons like this are part of what that means. A season is made up of games and practices, but it is also made up of meals shared together, children running around the field, conversations under the pavilion, teammates laughing while they hide Easter eggs, and families making memories alongside one another.
Those things may never appear in a scorebook, but they become part of the story of a team. They help build the relationships that make it easier to encourage one another, trust one another, and genuinely care about the people standing beside you when it is time to compete.
A Blessed Day with Our Baseball Family
It was a simple afternoon — practice, food, crafts, an egg hunt, and time together — but those are often the days that become some of the sweetest memories. We are grateful for every player, sibling, parent, and family member who spent the Saturday before Easter with us and helped make the day so much fun.
We spend a lot of time together during baseball season, and we never want to take that for granted. These players and families are part of the story of HC Baseball, and we are thankful for opportunities to enjoy one another away from the pressure of the scoreboard.
